Moves

Copywriting is just like Choreography.

Just as every word is chosen and placed in a sentence, each move is artistically sequenced in a routine. I’ve been dancing since I was 3 years old and as I grew to love the competition, the creative in me fell in love with choreography.

Here are a few of my best moves.

Personal Project: Dance: A Love-Hate Relationship

For every reason to love, there’s a reason to hate. In a space so full of freedom, a feeling I don’t belong. With the discovery of my first love, came the weight of a mental load. For every skill landed, a knee lined black and blue. The 9th “one last time” knowing there’ll be a 10th. With the thrill of a win, comes the grueling process. Every trophy lining my shelf, a memory missed. Countless hours in the studio, just two minutes under the lights. But for every reason to hate, there’s always a reason to love.

Syracuse University Dance Team Timeout Routine: Simply Irresistible

The Choreography Process:

The Music:

Music is the foundation of any routine. Once I have chosen the song, i select the must have sections and then cut and blend around those. Luckily this song only needed a few.

The Formations:

With pom being such a visual style, and considering that a football stadium exposes every angle, the formations must be precisely crafted.

The Moves:

When choreographing visuals with layered parts, I often recruit a friend to test the movement and make sure it matches my vision. These clips show the process from testing the parts with a friend to seeing the full picture come to life on the team.
